40th Annual Nordic Bonfire

Saturday, February 22 I Aspen Nordic Center I 4:00 pm - Family Wave I 5:30 pm - Main Event 


One of our favorite nights of the year, this 40-year tradition brings the community together at the Aspen Nordic Center for an illuminated Nordic ski that guides participants from one station to the next, with cozy bonfires, delicious food, and winter spirit. Honey Butter, acclaimed comfort food masters from Carbondale, will again provide a delectable spread at each stop. At the final station, enjoy freshly baked cookies, brownies and chippers generously donated by Paradise Bakery and live music from beloved local band, Midnight Lightning. 

This year, we are introducing a "Family Wave", starting at 4 p.m., with all the same fun: food, drinks, bonfires, and spirit! The main event is 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Rentals available at the Aspen Nordic Center (970-925-2145) for kids and adults beginning at 2:30 p.m. Adult rentals: $20; kids under 12: $10. 

 
DETAILS

 A few important event reminders below:
  • Parking: Parking is extremely limited at the Aspen Nordic Center. Please plan to carpool, bus, or skate to the event! If the parking lot is full, please head up to the parking lot at the Aspen Middle School. We will be running an AVSC shuttle from the school to the event every 15 minutes. 
  • 21+ attendees: Please bring a valid ID to present at check-in. 
  • Waiver: Please note that you will be required to complete one liability waiver per family upon event registration. 
  • Equipment: The Aspen Nordic Center has limited rentals available.
    • Adults $50; Kids under 12 $25; Family of Four $120
    • Skinning, snowshoeing, or walking the course is also an option. 
  • Other: The course will be lit, but we recommend each attendee bring a headlamp. Please remember to dress warm.
