"Clubhouse Chronicles: Athletes leading the way with first Youth Leadership Council at AVSC"

At AVSC, athletes usually spend their winters chasing gates, dialing in tricks and carving turns across our mountains and trails. But this season, something new has been happening off the snow, too. Something led entirely by the athletes themselves.

Earlier this year, AVSC launched its first Youth Leadership Council (YLC), bringing together students in grades 7–12 who wanted to help shape the culture and future of the club. The idea was simple: if athletes are at the heart of AVSC, they should have a voice in how the club grows.

The council includes athletes from across all disciplines: Isabelle Erickson and Ema Munoz from Alpine; Milo Berger, Kai Dalla Betta, Ryder Hutchenson, Kai Rueggeberg and Alexa Yang from freestyle; Whit Miller, Coban Sewell and Hailey Ward from snowboard; and Owen Cruz-Abrams and Kate Goldfarb from Nordic.....

"Clubhouse Chronicles: More than a medal"

Alex Ferreira's Olympic gold and what it means in Aspen

The moment Alex Ferreira dropped into the Olympic halfpipe, Aspen was already holding its breath.

In living rooms, at lodges and in schools across the Roaring Fork Valley, people paused and watched. When he landed his final run and the gold medal became reality, the celebration was instant.

But so was the pride. Because for this community, the victory was never just about the podium. It was about watching someone we have known since he was young, shaped by these mountains and this town, stand on the biggest stage in the world, chase a dream and carry a piece of home with him every step of the way....

"Clubhouse Chronicles: Learning valuable life lessons as a young AVSC snowboarder"

I started snowboarding when I was 2 years old. At first, it was just something fun I did with my family, but over time, it became something I really cared about. Snowboarding is where I feel the most comfortable and confident. When I’m on my board, I can focus on riding and forget about everything else.

Snowboarding isn’t always easy. You fall a lot, especially when you’re trying something new. Sometimes it’s frustrating when a trick doesn’t work or when you don’t land a run the way you hoped. But every time that happens, you learn. You get back up, try again, and slowly improve. That’s one of the things snowboarding has taught me: to keep going even when things are hard...

"Clubhouse Chronicles: Bonfire returns in support of Nordic community"

Tiny lights shine off into the distance, alternating along the sides of the packed snow. The steady rhythm of skis on snow permeates the air as people greet one another. A bonfire burns bright, headlamps dancing around it. Laughter echoes off the mountains surrounding the valley, stars shining overhead.

Every year, the Nordic community gathers for a celebration of all those who make the races, trails, and AVSC programs possible. The annual Bonfire, this year on Valentine’s Day, is a night where skiers of all ages can strike out on the fresh snow to share a dinner with their friends and family. In past years, the Aspen golf course has transformed into a massive loop crossing three stations — appetizer, dinner, and dessert — of gathering and storytelling around bonfires. The AVSC Nordic athletes, who this dinner supports, place tea lights along the paths, showing the way to their many guests. ...

"Clubhouse Chronicles: Wilder Dwight, the kid who still brings us together"

Some names never leave a mountain town. They echo in lift lines, show up in old start lists, and get passed along with each new group of kids on skis. At AVSC, Wilder Dwight is one of them.

Every January, the Wilder Dwight Memorial Race Series brings our community together. The event is one of the most meaningful weeks on the Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club calendar, serving both as a tribute and as a cornerstone of athlete development. What began as a memorial has grown into a signature race weekend that continues to shape young athletes and bridge generations of the AVSC family...
